What type of battery for my car?

 Your car battery provides electricity for most accessories in your car such as sliding windows, door locks, and light among others. During choosing the best type of battery for your car, you need to consider several factors which include;
*      Brand
Brand refers to the trademark used by a certain manufacturer. You should consider buying the car battery from the brand recommended in your car owner’s manual. However, sometimes you may find that the brand recommended sells very expensive batteries. This may force you to look for another cheaper battery which has the same specifications as the ones stated in the owner’s manual. There are several manufacturers which produce different brands of batteries which include;
  • Delphi- produces Delco and some EverStart batteries.
  • Exide- produces Champion, Napa, Exide and some EverStart batteries.
  • Johnson Controls Industries- produces Sears, AutoZone, Interstate, Costco, Ford and some EverStart batteries.
*      Size
The best battery for your car should fit snugly and securely in the car’s battery tray. Car batteries are made of different group sizes hence you should refer to the owner’s manual to know the group size of your car battery.

*      Reserve Capacity
This refers to the number of minutes the battery can continue supplying a minimum voltage in case the fan belt and the alternator fails to function. It is rated in minutes and different car models may be recommended to use batteries with different reserve capacities.
*      Age
This determines the period of time the battery is likely to last. A good battery should be less than six months old. You should check the manufacturing date to determine the age of the battery. Below six months, the battery is considered to be “fresh” and it is the best for your car.
There are many service centers where you can buy your car battery from and get it installed. These centers include; Firestone, Goodyear, Pep Boys, and Sears. There are other stores which sell low-priced batteries but most of the times they do not offer installation service. They include; Kmart, Target, Trak Auto, Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores.
According to customer testimonials, Napa 84 has been trusted to be a good battery which you can buy for your car. However, if the specifications stated in your owner’s manual do not rhyme with the ones of the battery, you should consider other types. Though the cost will be also a major factor during purchasing, it should not to compromise the quality of the battery.
